Today April 22, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement. The celebration is dedicated to the environment and the preservation of our planet. The theme of this 53rd edition is «We invest in our planet».
The United Nations have sanctioned this anniversary since 1970, but already proposed by several environmentalists and activists in the sixties.
World Earth Day is an opportunity to take stock of the health of the planet, climate change and pollution (air, water and soil), the state of the oceans and ecosystems, but also to make an assesment of non-renewable energy resources.
Based on the latest studies, the consequences of our Earth’s health are not limited to a decrease in biodiversity and a threat to many plant and animal species, but there is an increasing inability to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere due to deforestation.
We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.
