October 31 is famous around the world to be the Halloween day, a typical celebration of the culture of the people of Northern Europe that first invaded North America to spread again in Europe.
This event is celebrated between the end of October and the early days of November and, as in the American tradition, even in Sardinia children ask some little gift door-to-door for the deceased loved, the «little souls”.
The rite began a few days before the eve of All Saints’ Day, with the preparation of traditional Sardinian sweets that were given as gifts to the children who knocked on the door. The children wandered around dressed in rags, like dead souls and knocked from door to door asking with a formula that varied according to the place, a small offering for souls hovering between heaven and hell.
